Sofia Jakobsson is a Swedish footballer who plays for Bayern Munich of the German Women’s Bundesliga. Her position in forward. She made her debut for the Sweden women’s national football team in 2011 and won her 100th cap in 2019. Sofia Jakobsson represented her country in the 2013 edition of the UEFA Women’s Championship, as well as at 2011, 2015, and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups. She also played at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Football Tournaments.
Eva Sofia Jakobsson was born on April 23, 1990, in Ornsköldsvik, Sweden. She started playing football from an early age.
Sofia Jakobsson made her debut in the team of Hägglunds IoFK in 2006, but during the next year signed with Osters IF, where had 21 matches and 9 goals.
After playing one season in the second tier for Osters IF, Sofia Jakobsson signed in 2007, at 17, for national champion Umea IK. In her five seasons in Umea she won two championships and one national cup, and she made her UEFA Women’s Cup debut. For the team, she had 58 matches and 18 goals. With the team of Umea, Sofia Jakobsson won Damallsvenskan in 2007 and 2008, Svenska Cupen in 2007, as well as Svenska Supercupen in 2007 and 2008.
After Umea lost its dominant position in the Damallsvenskan in 2009, Sofia Jakobsson transferred to Russian champion WFC Rossiyanka to again play the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In the Russian team she had 13 matches and 9 goals, winning the Russian Championship.
Sofia Jakobsson signed for Chelsea Ladies in January 2013. She scored on her debut in a 1–1 draw with Birmingham. She played only 11 matches but scored 6 goals for the team.
With three WSL games remaining until the end of the season she moved to the German Bundesliga alongside teammate Ester, signing for newly promoted team BV Cloppenburg. For the team she played 22 matches and scored 5 goals.
In July 2014, Sofia Jakobsson signed for Montpellier HSC of the French Division 1 Feminine. She played for the team for 5 seasons, registering 91 matches and 50 goals.
In July 2019, Sofia Jakobsson joined Real Madrid Feminino of the Spanish Primera División, who at that time went under the name CD Tacon, along with her national teammate, Kosovare Asllani. During her first season in Spain, Jakobsson scored most goals and most assists in the capital club scoring 8 goals and 7 assists.
In June 2021, Sofia Jakobsson announced that she is departing Real Madrid. On 2 July 2021, she signed with Bayern Munich in the top German league, the Frauen-Bundesliga.
With the national team of Sweden, she is a silver medalist from Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and a bronze medalist from FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019.
