Sara Dabritz is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Division 1 Feminine club Lyon and the Germany national team. She is UEFA Women’s Euro champion in 2013 and runner-up in 2022, as well as a gold medalist in Rio 2016 Olympics and the 2014 Algarve Cup. At the club level, she won German Frau Bundesliga and French Division 1 Feminine.
Sara Ilonka Dabritz was born on February 15, 1995, in Amberg, Germany. She started playing football as a child, playing for SpVgg Ebermannsdorf, JFG Vilstal, and SpVgg SV Weiden.
Sara Dabritz made her professional debut in 2012 for the SC Freiburg. She played in the team for 3 seasons and had 69 appearances with 7 goals.
After developing her skills, Sara Dabritz signed with Bayern Munich. She was the top player of the team during the 4 seasons in the club. Sara Dabritz had 80 appearances and 31 goals, being a key player for the team during the champion season, winning the 2015/2016 Bundesliga.
In 2019, Sara Dabritz moved to France to sign with Paris Saint-Germain. During the two seasons in the football club, she won the 2020/2021 French Division 1 Feminine and 2021/2022 Coupe de France feminine.
In 2022, Sara Dabritz signed with Olympique Lyonnais, playing again in the French Division 1 Feminine. Her contract is since 2025.
At the international level, Sara Dabritz plays for the senior German national team since 2013. She made her debut on June 29, 2013. She was called up to be part of the national team for the successful campaign at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013. In 2014, Sara Dabritz was part of the Germany U-20 at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, achieving another title with a contribution of five goals for which she received the Bronze Shoe. Named for Germany’s national squad for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she scored her first senior goal during the tournament’s match against Ivory Coast.
Sara Dabritz was part of the squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics, where Germany won the gold medal.
At the 2019 Women’s World Cup, she scored a goal in Germany’s 1–0, and 4-0 wins over Spain and South Africa, earning the player of the match award on both occasions. Sara Dabritz would add another goal to her world cup total as she scored in Germany’s 3–0 triumph over Nigeria, bringing her goal total to three for the tournament.
